Itinerary 

Beziers to Carcassonne

Day 1, Sunday
Step aboard and meet your crew for a champagne reception. Your glamorous journey commences as you cruise to the pretty village of Colombières. Come evening, dine on delicious regional specialties.

Day 2, Monday
Visit Abbaye de Fontfroide, a Cistercian monastery founded in the 11th century. The abbey has been lovingly restored with a peaceful garden and cloister. Lunch is followed by a serene afternoon spent cruising the beautiful Canal du Midi to Capestang. Dinner is served on deck.

Day 3, Tuesday
Visit Oppidum d'Ensérune, a pre-Roman hilltop settlement. Look over Montady pond, a spectacular 13th-century sunburst-shaped network of furrows. Stop at a local wine producer for a tasting. Lunch on board is followed by an afternoon watching the beauty of the Canal du Midi slip by. Once evening settles, dinner is served.

Day 4, Wednesday
Visit the colourful morning market in Narbonne and help choose ingredients for dinner. Enjoy the city’s fine architecture, shaded boulevards and riverside location. Have lunch at a wonderful seafood bistro next to the market before cruising to Homps. Return to the barge in the evening, and enjoy time at leisure before dinner.

Day 5, Thursday
After breakfast, travel to Minerve, an ancient village set on a cliff overlooking vineyards. Discover the historic ruined castle, once captured by Simon de Montfort. Stop at Peyriac-Minervois for a wine tasting. Return to the barge for lunch. Walk or cycle along the towpath, or simply relax on deck. Moor at the pretty village of Trèbes and savour a delicious dinner.

Day 6, Friday
Explore Carcassonne, Europe's largest medieval fortress. See the stunning views towards the Pyrenees from the battements and castellated walls. Visit the cathedral, with its remarkable stained glass, Romanesque nave and Gothic transepts. Back on board, a farewell gala dinner awaits.

Day 7, Saturday
Savour a final breakfast aboard before the crew bids you farewell and you disembark.

Avignon to Beziers

Day 1, Sunday
Meet your crew for a champagne reception as your journey begins. Cruise to Vallebrègues, past Châteauneuf-du-Pape, home of the Popes of Avignon. See the famous bridge Pont Saint-Bénezet before a delicious dinner on board.

Day 2, Monday
Explore the magnificent walled city of Avignon. Take a guided walk around the Palace of the Popes and Cathedral of Nôtre Dame. Return to the barge for lunch and continue your cruise along the River Rhône. Admire the 15th-century castles of Beaucaire and Tarascon as you pass. As evening settles, float along the Petit Rhône to Aigues-Mortes and enjoy dinner on board.

Day 3, Tuesday
Take a walk around Aigues-Mortes, a well-preserved village founded by Louis IX in 1241. Cruise to Camargue where you'll discover salt marshes and sand dunes full of flamingos, wild horses and black bulls. After, visit Frontignan which is famous for its sweet, natural wine.

Day 4, Wednesday
Tour Sète, the second-largest port city in France. Wander through the market and quayside, where fishermen lay their nets to dry. Savour lunch on board as you cruise to Marseillan, a beautiful seaside port. Visit Noilly Prat and sample its unique Mediterranean-style vermouth.

Day 5, Thursday
Cruises through Étang de Thau, a vast inland lagoon. In the afternoon, sample the regional delicacy of oysters and mussels. The barge crosses the Hérault river and the sea, before joining the Canal du Midi. Enjoy dinner on board in a peaceful countryside mooring.

Day 6, Friday

Avignon to Lyon

Day 1, Sunday
Meet the crew on the barge for a champagne reception, as your glamorous journey begins. In the evening, cruise the River Rhône to Roquemaure before savouring your first dinner aboard.

Day 2 Monday
Take a tour of the magnificent walled city of Avignon and the Palace of the Popes. Cruise to Viviers, a charming town where you can enjoy lovely views from the cathedral.

Day 3, Tuesday
Drive through the countryside to the pretty town of Nyons. Here visit a local lavender producer and learn about this fragrant plant. Have lunch in a delightful restaurant at Grignan. Later, visit a local truffle farm for a tour and a tasting. In the afternoon, your cruise continues to La Voulte.

Day 4, Wednesday
Cruise to either Tain l'Hermitage or Tournon. Visit Chez Ferraton, a winery that is just a short stroll away, and enjoy an exclusive tasting session. The Ferraton family has produced some of the best Côtes du Rhône vintages for centuries.

Day 5, Thursday
Cruise along the delightful Rhône Valley south of Lyon. Enjoy the scenery as the magnificent vineyards of the Côtes Rôties and the Côtes du Rhône almost reach the river. Take a walking tour of Vienne, a wonderful riverside Roman town. Return to Condrieu for a wine tasting, then spend a relaxed evening on board.

Day 6, Friday
Travel to the heart of Lyon and enjoy a guided walking tour. France's second city, Lyon is a cultural and gastronomic haven. Take some free time to explore the sights and browse the chic boutiques. Back on board, enjoy a magnificent farewell gala dinner.

Day 7, Saturday
Have breakfast on board before the crew bids you farewell and you disembark for your onward travel arrangements.
