Itinerary

TANLAY TO VENAREY-LES-LAUMES

Sunday, Day 1 Tanlay
You are met at a designated meeting point in central Paris* and transferred by private chauffeured minibus to La Belle Epoque. A full crew Welcome Aboard with champagne and canapés, then an opportunity perhaps for a stroll through the grounds of nearby Château de Tanlay, before enjoying your first dinner on board and an introduction to Burgundy’s excellent cuisine.

Monday, Day 2 Tanlay to Lezinnes
Wake to the aromas of ground coffee and French patisseries before heading off to enjoy your first round of golf at the challenging Golf Chateau de Tanlay situated in the park of a spectacular Burgundian castle. This 9-hole course covers 2668 meters and was designed in 1989 by the highly acclaimed architect Antoine d’Ormesson who is responsible for some of the most amazing golf course designs worldwide. Return to the barge for lunch and a late morning cruise to the village of Lezinnes. In the late afternoon, take a tour of the vineyards and town of Chablis with a private wine tasting of high quality wines at a renowned winemaker, such as the family-run Domaine Jean Marc Brocard. Dinner on board.
(9 holes, Par 35, 2668 m)

Tuesday, Day 3 Lezinnes to Ancy-le-Franc
After breakfast, continue your lazy cruise along the Burgundy Canal to your mooring at Ancy-le-Franc. Here, if time allows, visit the beautiful symmetrical Chateau d’Ancy-le-Franc, a 16th century masterpiece containing France’s biggest collection of Renaissance murals, set in magnificent gardens and parkland.  After lunch on board, drive to Domaine du Roncemay Golf and Country Club, a magnificent international private golf course in a setting of woodland, lakes and landscaped gardens. Dinner on board.
(18 holes, 72 par, 6219m)

Wednesday, Day 4 Ancy-le-Franc to Ravières
Morning visit to medieval Noyers-sur-Serein, one of the most beautiful villages in France, to admire the local produce, colours and delights of the traditional French market or wander the old town ramparts. After lunch, drive to the magnificent Chateau de Chailly golf course, set in symmetrical composition in front of a 16th century chateau façade with fairways curving back in line with the round tower. With both lakes and a river on this course, water plays an important part during your game. Return to the barge for an early evening cruise to moor in the village of Ravières. Dinner ashore at a local restaurant.
(18 holes, Par 72, 6146m)

Thursday, Day 5 Ravières to Montbard
Morning cruise, with more excellent walking and cycling opportunities, to Montbard passing the 18th century Forges de Buffon. After lunch, you will be escorted to the exquisite UNESCO World Heritage Site of Abbayé de Fontenay, founded by St Bernard in 1118. Representing a distinctive example of early Cistercian architecture and virtually intact, Fontenay allows an exceptional glimpse of Cistercian life and industry with its peaceful gardens, ponds and fascinating cloisters, dormitories and scriptorium. Dinner on board.

Friday, Day 6 Montbard to Venarey-les-Laumes
Morning cruise through woodlands and rolling fields, with great towpath biking and walking opportunities, past the tiny canal side villages of Nogent, Courcelles and Les Granges, followed by a stroll around the hilltop village of Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, where the film ‘Chocolat’ was set, or a tour the medieval town of Semur-en-Auxois. After an early lunch, depart by minibus to the challenging Golf de Beaune Levernois, built in 1990 within a framework of relaxation and greenery deep in the heart of winegrowing Burgundy. This long technical course with 9 lakes and bunkers of white sand welcomes both international competition and demanding amateurs. Captain’s Farewell Dinner on board.
(18 hole, Par 72, 6129 m)

Saturday, Day 7 Venarey-les-Laumes
After breakfast, you are transferred to a designated location in central Paris*.
